Our Story

Cafecito has gone through many transformations. From a trailer at the local farmers market, to a beautifully rehabbed 500sq ft building on Madison Avenue, to where we are today, a little over 10,000 sq ft of indoor and outdoor space, stage in the garden, commercial learning kitchen, full bar and a funky vintage vibe throughout. Each transition and phase was such a journey and overall attribute in creating what we would be proud to share with the Yuma community.

We want to take a moment and reintroduce ourselves for anyone that may be new to town or just passing through and happen to google “Best cup of coffee in Yuma AZ” 

We are Travis and Ashley, Yuma natives that met in 6th grade. We share a deep love for epic meals, music on 11, adventure, creating together, and building meaningful relationships with complete strangers. After tragedy struck our family in the summer of 2018 and we lost our son Atticus, we now also share our grief and a deep understanding that life is short, moments are precious and being kind feels good to the soul. With some help from our dear friends we were able to start The Atticus Kindness Project, a non profit organization in honor of our baby boy the hero with a heart of gold. This project would help to remind us to always come back to what is important, taking care of the community that took care of us. It started out small with a lemonade stand ran by the youngest members of our family and a meal prepared by Travis, our crew would volunteer their time and we would rock out the first Friday of every month to raise money for a YUMAN in need. The goal in our new location is to be able to expand our efforts, get local kids and rotating local chefs involved and ultimately cut bigger checks to the hosted cause for the month. In the garden families can eat, drink and enjoy some open mic or live music at these first Friday events.
